Cursed Games: Part 4
It’s time for another installment of Cursed Games and we have 3 creepy games for you this episode!
Dive into the chilling world of supernatural games with “The Red Book,” a Mexican divination ritual.
Using a hard-cover red book and candlelight, players seek permission to enter and exit the game, asking questions and receiving cryptic answers from randomly selected passages.
The stakes are raised in “Charlotte’s Web,” where participants summon the spirit of a 15th-century girl whose mother was burned for witchcraft. In a dark room with a mirror and toy as bait, players converse with Charlotte’s reflection—but beware of turning around or playing twice, lest you risk eternal haunting.
For thrill-seekers willing to take their chances on the road, “The 11 Mile Ritual” offers a harrowing drive through an otherworldly forest.
As you progress mile by mile, the journey becomes increasingly surreal and terrifying. Shadowy figures, disembodied voices, and inexplicable phenomena test your resolve. The final mile culminates in a mysterious red light, beyond which lies the promise of your deepest desire—be it material or intangible.
These games blur the line between reality and the paranormal, daring players to confront their fears and desires. From the subtle whispers of the Red Book to the heart-pounding tension of the 11 Mile Ritual, each game offers a unique gateway to the unknown.
Have you ever wanted to know your future?
Do shadow figures take physical items?
Can a ritual grant your deepest wish?
What is up, Bizarros?! This week, it’s time for another installment of Cursed Games!
Cursed Games Volume 4
Cursed Game #1: The Red Book
This game, originally from Mexico, involves answering questions or talking to the dead.
Supplies
You need at least two people to play
You need a hard cover of a red book with just the color on the outside.
It must contain only words, no pictures
At least one red candle
Matches or a lighter
A quiet room
A question
Red Book Prep
Go into the quiet room, turn off the lights, and light the candle. Sit in a circle with all involved with the candle in the middle.
Put your hand on the book cover with your eyes closed and ask, “Red Book, may I enter your game?”
With your eyes closed pick a random page and take your finger on a random spot.
Read the sentence where your finger fell.
If the answer is negative or makes no sense, then you have not been accepted, and you pass the book to the next person to try to enter.
If it is positive you have been accepted,
Everyone must get permission to play.
The Action
You place your hand on the cover with your eyes closed and ask your question. Then, keep your eyes closed and open to a random page, and place your finger on it.
Open your eyes and read the sentence where your fingers are. This is the answer.
Repeat and pass it to everyone in the circle.
Closing The Red Book Game
With your eyes closed and your hand on the cover, ask, “ Red Book, may I leave your game.”
Keep your eyes closed and open to a random place. Place your finger randomly on the page and read out loud.
If the answer is negative or makes no sense, then you have not gotten permission to leave, and you pass the book to the next person to try to enter.
If it is positive you have been allowed to leave,
Everyone must get permission to leave the game.
When all have left, blow out the candle and turn on the light.
Red Book Game Encounter
From lovely killer bunny DO NOT PLAY THE GAME RED BOOK
This story is a true event that happened. DO NOT PLAY THE GAME RED BOOK.
We were all in eighth grade and we were all obsessed with abandoned places, traveling, ghosts, etc.
And since we knew that we were all departing to different high schools, we wanted to have one last fun time together as a friend group while we still could.
My friend group consisted of 6 people, including myself. For the sake of their privacy, I will not be using their real names.
My closest friend at the time was Mike; he lived in the house where all of this took place. He was very funny and cool, but his parents were extremely religious, so I’m still surprised that he was down to let us play these games at his house.
Then there was Jenna, who I have known since elementary and she had this weird love connection with Mike. Joey and Caroline were cool too, Joey was best friends with Mike since they were kids.
Caroline was very loud and outgoing and she claimed that she could “Feel spirits”. I still think it’s a bunch of Bullshit. Lastly, It was Allen and I.
He had this disturbing, obsessive crush on me. So, of course, during the whole sleepover, I was a little uncomfortable.
Anyway, we had been planning this sleepover for a couple of weeks, and it finally started to approach us.
We planned to play childish games like Bloody Mary, Baby Blue, etc. During this whole sleepover and the planning of it, we all promised one thing.
DO NOT MESS WITH THE GHOSTS IF WE DO ENCOUNTER THEM.
The day finally came and we all showed up to school with our regular backpacks, but also a bag with our Pj’s, tooth brushes, etc.
The whole school day was exciting, thinking about all of the fun stuff we were going to do after school.
And finally the end of the day came and we all walked to Mikes house.
He lived pretty close to school, it was about a seven minute walk.
All of my friends were loud and funny, which was nice considering that I was sort of quiet.
This made the walk on its own to be pretty fun. We made it the Mikes place and we all set our stuff down.
Mike’s family had a good amount of money, so his house was really nice.
We spent the first few hours messing around.
They went swimming for a little, I couldn’t because I was on that time of the month. We walked to 7/11 to get slushies and candy.
We went to a little playground in the middle of his neighborhood to take a couple of pictures for our social media’s. So far the day was going completely as planned and it was one of the best days of my life.
We got back to his house and since it was pretty dark we played hide and seek without flashlights for awhile.
It was around 9:00, and it was finally time to start playing the games.
(Started with one game that got them in the mood, but nothing of consequence happened)
Shortly after, we moved on to a game called Red Book.
You play Red Book by getting into a circle around the red book you have. When it’s their turn, everyone puts their hand on the cover of the book, closes their eyes, and asks, “Red book, can I enter your game?”
You keep your eyes closed and flip through the book randomly, stopping at any point in the book that you want. Then, you point your finger anywhere on the page.
When you open your eyes and see where your finger landed, that is the answer to your question.
If you got a positive answer or something related to accepting you into the book, then you can start playing.
If it says no or something random, you move on to the next person and wait until it’s your turn to ask again.
I decided not to play because I had a gut feeling not to play, and I had to read the roles if anyone had questions.
It took a while to get everyone into the game. But once everyone got accepted by the book, I reminded everyone that we would not disturb the ghosts if we encountered them.
To which they all agreed.Caroline also decided not to play because she was afraid that she would come in contact with ghosts. So she stayed on her phone the whole time while blasting Lady GaGa in her earphones.
The game started, and it was boring. Every question we had ended with an unrelated answer, and we all started to give up hope until the answers started to become weirdly coincidental.
“How old are you?”
“He was 13 years young”.
We all looked at each other. Some were freaked out, and some were excited that we were finally getting somewhere. The game continued, and the answers were very accurate.
“Is there anyone else with you?”
“They are frightening”
I asked Jenna where she got this book, and she said she had just found it on a bookshelf in her house. It didn’t even have a title.
It was Allen’s turn.
“How did you die?”
We all started yelling at him to stop since we agreed not to ask the question. But he wouldn’t stop; he kept flipping through the pages.
And he was silent, and he wasn’t moving other than his fingers flipping through the pages. We kept yelling, but he still did nothing.
It was almost like he was paralyzed. What scared us was that when he got to the end of the book, he started flipping backward, and he wouldn’t stop.
Finally, he stopped. He dragged his fingers up and down the page, stopping towards the middle. We kept yelling at him, asking why he would do that, but he still didn’t speak.
Joey grabbed the book to see where his finger stopped.
“We shouldn’t speak of this.”
We all looked up at Allen, who was shaking. Jenna asked him what was wrong, but he kept shaking. He suddenly started crying.
He put his face in his hands, and he fell into Mike’s arms. Allen has had panic attacks before, so we just thought that it was another panic attack.
By the time Mike calmed Allen down, we had asked him what had happened.
But he said he doesn’t remember anything. He said he blacked out.
Everyone agreed that we should end the game, but Allen said no. We tried convincing him to leave the game, but he kept saying no.
So they continued, which I thought was so fucking dumb, but it was majority rule, and I knew that none of them were going to listen to me.
The more they asked questions, the creepier it got.
“Where are you?”
“The door handle was cold.”
We all looked up at the bedroom door; it was locked. Everyone was scared, so we all agreed to end the game. But suddenly, Allen talked for the first time since his last turn.
“I have one more question.” We all looked at him like he was crazy. We kept telling him no, but when it got back to him, we were excepting him to ask the book is he could leave.
“What do you want with me?” He closed his eyes and flipped through the pages. He stopped at the end of the book on a blank page. He started scratching at his legs and he threw the book.
The room was dead silent. He looked like he couldn’t breathe. His veins were popping out of his neck, and he started breathing hard.
“Allen, are you okay?” Joey was the first one to talk to him for what seemed like hours. Finally, Allen looked up at us, but he looked mad. He lunged at Joey, scratching at his back, and breathing heavily.
Jenna jumped onto the bed with Caroline and me. I’m not gonna lie; I was crying because of how much was going on. Mike yanked Allen off of Joey and pulled him back against the wall.
Joey was able to stand up and walk to the other side of the room. It took Allen a while to calm down, but when he did, Joey looked like he had been attacked by a wild animal.
There were scratches all over his back and sides, some so deep that his blood stained the rim of his shorts.
Mike calmed Allen down again, and none of us spoke for about 20 minutes. We just stared at the book and at Allen. Joey spoke first.
“Ok everyone calm down, Allen was probably just messing around, right Allen?”
But Allen didn’t speak. We all knew that he would never do this. He was one of the nicest people I had ever met at the time, and he wouldn’t even hurt a fly.
We spent the rest of the night calming down and making jokes, trying to forget about what just happened.
But none of us could ever forget about this. Words can’t even describe every detail about how inhuman Allen looked.
Everyone agreed not to play any other games, to just watch movies, and then go to bed.
But even then, no one fell asleep until 3-4 in the morning.
That morning, Mike’s mom found out, and she was the quirky, hippie, religious woman that she was.
She had us all group hug and suggested that we burn the book. I was a little hesitant because Joey and Allen hadn’t left the game yet, but everyone else agreed.
So we went outside, and we gathered around the book.
“We don’t tell anyone about this, ok?” Mike said.
We all agreed, but I told my dad anyway because I was really close to him, and I was already planning on telling him. I’m pretty sure we all told our parents, but that’s it.
We let Allen do the honors of burning the book.
After that, we just went on with our day. We watched movies and ate cereal. No one talked about it.
Everyone was picked up one by one, and when I was picked up, we took Caroline home because she lived a block away from me.
I told my dad, and he suggested that he could’ve been faking it. I just agreed so we could stop talking about it.
It’s been almost two years now. And I go to a completely different high school.
They all go to the city’s most well-known high school. I talked to Mike maybe once or twice when we asked how school was and when he wished me a happy birthday.
I’ve only talked to Jenna once since we shared the same birthday. I don’t talk to any of the others. We haven’t brought up the experience at all.
I still have videos of us messing around on Snapchat, and you can see the aftermath on Joey’s back. Allen had asked me if I wanted to go out sometime after that sleepover, but I said no.
I have an amazing boyfriend now, and I haven’t had a paranormal experience since.
I still wonder if Allen was actually joking and if it was just a practical joke gone wrong. Or if we actually contacted spirits that night. All I have to say is, DONT PLAY RED BOOK.
Cursed Game #2: The Charlottes Web Ritual
The legend of “Charlotte” is that she was a 7 tamest old girl from the 1400s. Her mother was accused of witchcraft. After being accused, she was taken and burned for her crimes.
After her mother was killed, Charlotte ran into the woods rather than being taken into an orphanage. She died there from exposure and starvation.
The game
You need:
Two people
A room with no windows, or at the very least covered windows.
Flashlight.- *no open flames instead* (probably because of the whole mom burning thing)
You need a toy
A mirror
And a table with two chairs
Prep
You go into the room, place the chairs next to each other with about two feet between them, and make sure the chairs face the same way.
You place the mirror between two chairs. When you are seated, you should be able to see your reflection in the chairs. The table should be behind the chairs and reflected in the mirrors.
The toy should be placed on the table.
Turn on the flashlights and turn off the lights in the room.
The Event
Both people sit down on the chairs
While looking to the mirror both people say at the same time “ we want to play Charlottes web.”
Wait while looking only at the mirror.
It’s important to not be afraid and to look only at the mirror.
Watch the toy on the table in the mirror while not turning around.
If she does not take the toy she is displeased and you skip to step 1 of closing.
If she does take the toy, you may start asking her questions. Continue the conversation while still looking in the mirror.
When you finish the conversation, you start the closing
Closing
Speak in unison, “Goodbye, Charlotte”.
Continue to look in the mirror.
She will start to wonder out of view with the toy and when she’s gone it’s finial safe to turn around.
Turn on the lights, and do not play again.
Cursed Game #3: The 11-Mile Ritual
The 11 Mile Ritual Requirements
You take yourself in a car or some kind of vehicle you can drive.
You also need a wish.
The 11-Mile Ritual Rules
Start the game at night when the roads are less traveled.
Drive your car to a road in the woods.
The road should go at least 11 miles in the woods.
You start going through the woods, and your “wish” should guide you in finding the right one.
Before you start, you may stop the car and gather your thoughts.
These things may or may not happen during your travel.
Mile 1: may get cold. You can turn on your heater
Mile 2: it may get colder. I was advised to turn in the heater at this point.
Mile 3: human like shadows may emerge from the trees at this point, ignore them.
Mile 4: at this point, you may start to hear human voices. Ignore them.
Mile 5: ignore the scenery. The trees may vanish and be replaced with a moonlit lake.
Mile 6: the trees may come back at this point, but the stars may vanish. Your lights may flicker and if your radio turns on ignore that. But do not turn it off.
Mile 7: the voices may come back, but you should still ignore them and don’t turn around even if it sounds like they are coming from the back seat
Mile 8: you are advised to slow down here but do not stop. If your lights flick on and off break a bit but do not stop.
Mile 9: At this point, your car may stall out. If it does, make sure you close your eyes, take a beat, and try to restart it.
No matter what you hear, do not open your eyes. When the car starts, hit the gas as fast as you can, but keep your eyes shut. Do not open your eyes until you get past mile 9.
Mile 10: The only advice for mile 10 is to not look in the rearview mirror.
Mile 11: if your car loses power but will continue to move. Just keep going.
After the eleventh mile, you may see a red light ahead. Close your eyes and ears as tightly as you can.
Do not look despite what you may hear or feel or if you experience extreme heat.
When your car regains power, drive it.
Receive your reward
Drive until the road dead-ends
Stop, calm down, close your eyes.
Imagine your deepest desire (even if it’s changed from when you started)
If it was a material desire, check the trunk, back seat, or pocket.
If it was not material, your reward will come in time.
Warnings
Do not do any of the following.
Playing music or podcasts of any kind.
Use a cell phone
Open the windows
Drive faster than 30 mph
Leave the car
Real 11 Mile Road Game Experience
From spookiSzn on Reddit
I Played The 11 Mile Road Game. Here’s What Happened
My favorite podcast did an episode on paranormal games. One of these games was the 11 Mile Road Challenge.
The motivation is a wish. You know, wish upon a star, wish comes true. But this game seemed a lot darker like you’re risking something.
It scared me, but I thought maybe this is just a kids game, meant to freak teenagers out and something to laugh about later on in the night.
I’m not so sure that’s what this “game” is all about now that I’ve experienced it myself.
To explain the feeling you get when you arrive at the 11 mile road, it doesn’t feel like a “game”.
It feels as if you’re about to make a sacrifice. It feels like a ritual. In fact, if you search YouTube videos (most of them clickbait and people who aren’t doing it right at all), they do refer to it as the “11-mile ritual”.
Now, I’ll explain mile by mile what I experienced on the 11 mile drive.
Mile 1:
It took me about 15-20 minutes of feeling absolutely nothing before all of a sudden I had this overwhelming feeling that I was there.
At that point I was at a sharp turn in the middle of the woods and I knew that when I turned that corner, that was it, the ritual would start.
I did not feel a pull forward, I wanted sooooo badly to turn around. But I just went. I just drove. At first, there was no change, but right as I was coming up onto the 2nd mile, the temperature seemed to plummet.
I checked the paper I wrote the rules on and turned up the heater.
Mile 2:
I find myself reaching to turn the heater on full blast. It is COLD. And that’s all, it’s just cold. Nothing else seemed to be out of order.
Mile 3:
I see one person walking along the right side of the road with a backpack.
This looked to me like an actual human, though the fact that I was traveling along a desolate back road in the middle of NOWHERE does strike me as odd.
However this person never looked at my car, he appeared in the rear view mirror and appeared to be playing on his phone.
He looked VERY real and very normal and very unbothered. Besides this, I saw nothing else.
Mile 4:
This is where shit got weird for me.
I started to really fear the situation for the first time, and as I drove past a small clearing from the trees, I swear I thought I heard a fist hit my window and the sound of someone shouting my name.
It was as if it was RIGHT outside the window. I have no explanation for this except for in the case that my imagination was running wild at this point.
Either way, I was shaking and involuntary sped up. I considered turning around, but I just kept driving.
Mile 5:
Nothing crazy happened during mile 5. Actually, it was during mile 5 that I was able to take a breath and calm myself down.
Mile 6:
Nope. NOPE, NOPE, NOPE.
I will NEVER do that “game” or ritual again. My headlights shut off a total of 3 times. I slowed down, but did not stop.
This road was so curvy and it was the worst time for my lights to fuck up. The last time they went off, I actually thought they had burned out.
They must have been off for at least a minute straight. I barely saw anything, just the yellow double lines, and I went with that.
I almost had to stop when I thought I could see someone standing in the middle of the road but at the last second my lights came on and at the same moment my radio started blasting an AM channel.
This is said to happen but I don’t know if I possibly hit a button on my steering wheel. I forgot I wasn’t supposed to turn off the radio and I turned it off. I wonder if this effected the rest of the trip.
Mile 7:
Nothing happens on the seventh mile, I just drive and hear something hit my car. An acorn or something I’m going to assume.
Mile 8:
Nothing happens on the eighth mile, but I’m scared shitless at this point and I have tears in my eyes.
The fear is so intense and I feel as though I am being intently watched.
It felt as if someone was right behind my ear, looking at me and waiting for something. I kept waiting to hear someone start screaming.
Mile 9:
My. Car. STALLS. YEP. IT HAPPENED. THE ONE THING I THOUGHT- THAT WONT HAPPEN. OH BABY.
I close my eyes as tight as I can as per instruction of the rules and I, am, SCREAMING. I keep trying to start my car and finally it STARTS and I take off.
I don’t know if anything else happened. I just started going, screaming the whole time. I didn’t see anything, but I swear I heard laughing at some point.
In my memory, I can’t pinpoint exactly when I heard the laughing.
Mile 10:
I’m still freaking out, I’m crying, but I don’t see or hear anything.
I was basically just trying really, really hard to convince myself that this was all just coincidence and random and that there was actually nothing to be afraid of.
Mile 11:
I see a red light, but like, a literal traffic light. Still, I close my eyes, because I’m honestly not sure if this counts.
I keep my eyes closed until I can see the red glow behind my eyelids. I stop. And I only stopped because I felt like I was supposed to.
When I open my eyes I felt like I hadn’t experienced any fear, like I hadn’t heard or seen anything. I felt fine, if not great. It was so strange.
I closed my eyes, made my wish, and as it wasn’t a physical thing, I immediately turned my phone on and routed myself home. It’s been just about 18 hours since, but I’m still waiting to see what happens.
SO!! Was it my imagination? Was it all a coincidence? Idk. Maybe. I’ll let ya know if the wish comes true.
