Black Eyed Kids | Ep. 52

Welcome to a new episode of Believing the Bizarre!

This week, we are… oh, hold on a second Someone is at the door.

Huh, that was weird. It was this little kid, which isn’t that strange…but his eyes were completely black! Creepy, right?

Well, that is exactly what we are talking about this week. Black Eyed Kids, also known as BEKs and Black Eyed Children are young kids – typically between the ages of 6 and 16 – that visit people’s homes and request to be let inside, or other favors.

We dive into a handful of encounter stories and discuss what exactly these “children” could be. Listen now! And also, we love you Vermont – don’t hate us! You can take a joke, right?

Knock, Knock.

Who’s there?

Soulless black eyed kids who want to devour your soul.

What’s up Bizarro’s?  Most kids seem like they’re sweet, innocent, and as harmless as a gentle breeze on a summer day.  What if you met kids that “seemed” innocent, but you knew something was off?

If you’ve ever run across a kid like this you may have run into a black-eyed kid. If you are reading this today, count yourself lucky to be alive to tell the story.

This week we dive into black-eyed kids.

Black-eyed kids are pale children, wearing out of date clothes, usually between the ages of 6 and 16, with pitch-black eyes.

These soulless entities usually appear at night asking unsuspecting adults for help. Sometimes it’s for rides to their parent’s house, or to use the telephone. And from the start, something doesn’t seem right, and the children become more persistent for you to let them in your house or car.

Sometimes the requests are outdated which makes it seem like these black eyed kids don’t know where in Earth’s timeline they are – asking to use a telegraph, for instance.

What is common in all the encounters is that these children give off a foreboding feeling that causes their targets to feel uneasy. They start to feel that these aren’t kids, and may not be human at all.

In some instances these beings can lull their unsuspecting targets into a trance-like state making them more likely to allow them into their homes or cars.

Thankfully, in most of these instances the people come to and are able to get away from the children.

Here is the most famous black-eyed kid story.

It was January 16th, 1996 and Brian Bethel in Abilene Texas was leaving his apartment late in the evening to pay an internet bill.

Needing to fill out his check, Brian stopped at a local cinema so he could fill out his check.

While writing his check he hears a soft knock on his window. He sees two boys roughly around the ages of 10 and 14 standing by his window.

The boys were dressed in hoodies and from the first moment Brian laid eyes on them he knew something was off.

The taller of the boys said they needed help.  They wanted to go see a movie, but had forgotten their money.  However, instead of asking to borrow some money, they asked Brian for a ride to their house so they could get the money.

“c’mon mister…we just want to go to our house. And we’re just little boys. C’mon mister, let us in. We can’t get in your car until you do… just let us in and we’ll be gone before you know it.” the taller boy persisted.

In a trance like state Brian found himself unlocking the car door.

Suddenly he came too and looked at the children.  He noticed their eyes were entirely black, no pupils or irises.  They were completely black.

The older boy continued saying, “We won’t hurt you. You have to let us in. We don’t have a gun!”

Brian threw his car into drive and sped away from the children.

What would you do?  Would you be able to overcome the hypnotic spell these kids exert over their targets?

What are these kids?  Are they demons taking the form of children in order to harm people?  Are they aliens that don’t quite understand Earth and that’s why they seem to say things that are outdated?

The next time you run across an unknown child making bizarre requests, make sure you can see the white of his eyes before you help them.
