Staircases in the Woods | Ep. 49

Join us on our path this week as we… no not up there! Not the staircase in the woods. Wait…why is there a staircase in the woods!?

That is the mystery we are diving into this week. In the last couple of years, more and more very reliable folks on the interweb have described seeing odd, out-of-place staircases in pristine condition deep in the woods.

Is this a fake story that people have been snowballing into existence or could these stairs be portals to another dimension? Listen now!

She’s Buying A Stairway To The Woods

What’s up Bizzaros.  Stairs are a functional part of society.  They help us navigate between floors and are much more reliable than pesky elevators that need electricity to run on.

Stairs are pretty mundane, and not something that gives ones pause.  Unless they’re out of place.  Then they become something more. What if they not only helped you navigate floors, but dimensions as well?  What if this is a crossover between our plane of existence and another?

Would you take the stairs then?

In this week’s episode we dive into the case of the stairs in the woods.

Picture this.  It’s a Saturday afternoon.  You’ve had a hard week of work and decided to unwind by going on a hike and enjoying the scenery and sound of nature as you unwind from the week.

It’s peaceful.  The birds have returned from their winter vacations and the sounds of spring immediately begin to lift your spirits.

Until.

You see a staircase in the middle of the woods.  It’s odd.  It’s a staircase.  A pretty mundane object.  You see stairs everyday.  You use them everyday. But here they are in the woods.

Somehow, the bright red brick should stand out in the bucolic surroundings, but it seems to make everything darker.  The wrought iron railing seems to lead the steps to an end you can’t see.

There are no other structures around.  No signs of use from animals, or other humans.

Do you go up the stairs? Or do you run?

Stairs in the woods have recently become a phenomenon but the stories have been around for years.

According to one Elite Search & Rescue Officer it’s a known event that they just don’t talk about.

In just about every case where we’re really far into the wilderness, I’m talking 30 or 40 miles, at some point we’ll find a staircase in the middle of the woods. It’s almost like if you took the stairs in your house, cut them out, and put them in the forest,” he says.

“I wanted to go check them out, but I was told, very emphatically, that I should never go near any of them. I just sort of ignore them now when I run into them because it happens so frequently.”

According to another witness of the staircase in the woods he said, “They looked like stairs from a normal suburban home. Kind of old though.  The older cousin decided to investigate. He walked to the stairs to see how they were being held up, couldn’t find anything which weirded him out. He made us all leave. Grass didn’t grow near the stairs either.”

While the staircases all appear to be different, some made of brick, others of wood, there is one thing they have in common.  The sense of foreboding.  There is something unnatural and ominous about these staircases.

Those that have climbed the stairs have been affected.  They said they get a sense of being unwelcome, as if they weren’t supposed to be there.  These steps weren’t meant to be seen by us, but somehow, at least for a brief moment they’re in our reality.

Another Search And Rescue Officer spoke about his experience when he walked up one set.

“Everything was normal until I reached the top, that’s when the noise stopped and everything went dead quiet. I got freaked and ran down minutes later. I ran to my superior officer and was immediately reprimanded. Apparently I had been gone for hours.”

Are these stairs a portal to another dimension?  Are they stuck in a time slip where minutes become hours? Or are they something that indicates there are worlds just out of our sight?

If you’re walking in the woods and come upon a set of stairs would you go up them, or would you run?
