Beyond a Shadowman of a Doubt

What’s up Bizzaros. In this week’s episode, we have a listener submission.

Have you ever noticed something out of the corner of your eye? Like a person that is watching you?  But when you try to focus the figure is gone.

Or have you woken from deep sleep to see a shadow that seems darker than the others in the room standing by your bed?

Shadowmen are a mysterious and spooky phenomenon that has affected millions of people across the world.

Do they intend us harm? Are they watchful spirits looking in on us? Or are they from another dimension that is crossing over into ours for a brief moment?

Let’s take a look at what happened to Georgie in East Los Angeles.

“It was just the four of us. My dad, grandma, aunt and me.” Georgie says.

“I was 7 and we were living in an apartment in East LA. My dad was in his mid 20’s.”

“Before we moved in my grandma stated that while they were looking at the apartment before they moved in they noticed something odd in one of the three rooms.” Georgie explains.

Her grandma told her about a dark circular stain on the ground and weird markings in the walls of the closet. Even more disturbing is that there were drag marks going from the stain to the closet.

Georgie’s father said that the markings looked satanic, although the owner had said that they were just markings by some dumb kids that had lived their before. He ensured them that they would fix up the room before they moved in.

“That room would end up becoming my father’s,” recalled Georgie. “My grandma wasn’t comfortable with the markings and had an uneasy feeling about it, and didn’t want to move in. However, my dad insisted since this was going to be a temporary move.”

At first nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary at first for the four of them.  There was even a mini backyard where they could enjoy the weather.

Soon though Georgie’s dad started hearing people whispering in his bedroom doorway. From his door you see directly down the hall where her room was.

Soon the whispering turned into things shuffling in the kitchen at night.  The noise sounded as if they were moving spoons, and plates around.

“Then one night my grandma and dad woke to the sounds of ceramic plates breaking,” Georgie said. “They went to the kitchen and saw that there were plates broken on the floor.”

Surprisingly Georgie slept through the entire incident.

This continued for two weeks until Georgie’s grandma had enough, and did what any spiritual grandma would do. She went straight to her church and got holy water to bless their apartment and put an end to the supernatural events that were happening in their apartment.

For a time, grandma’s blessing seemed to work…until Georgie’s grandma woke up to the feeling of being watched.

“My grandma had a sixth sense, and always had a knack for these kinds of energies.” said Georgie.

Georgies grandma’s sense was right.  She saw a tall dark shadowy figure peeking into her room. She saw the hand of the figure on the door frame while its upper body was leaning through the doorway.

She yelled at it to leave them alone and the shadowman backed away and darted down the hall.

Grandma gave chase after the shadowy figure afraid that it would harm Georgie.

As her grandma approached Georgie’s room she saw the shadowy figure standing in the corner of her room. By this point her dad had joined in on the chase, half asleep thinking that someone had broken in and was now in my room.

As the grownups entered my room the shadowman had sunk into the corner and disappeared.

“My dad suggested that I sleep in grandma’s room.” Georgie said “My dad wasn’t a big paranormal believer…yet.  I remember my grandma waking me up that night and telling me an excuse about needing me to sleep in her room.  She said that her and my aunt were scared and needed my company.”

After a few nights with no strange activity the whispers came back, but this time it was more than just whispers. Georgie’s dad started waking up with scratch marks on his back and chest.

Her dad’s bed was set up so he could see out of his door and into Georgie’s room.

“He told me one night he woke up to see the shadowman standing next to my door slowly making its way into my room.” explains Georgie

Georgie’s dad jumped out of his bed yelling for the aunt and grandma to wake up.

“As he got closer he said he heard me crying and coughing.” Georgie said. “He turned on the lights and there was no sign of the shadowman.”

Georgie told her dad that she had a nightmare where she was alone in a fair and a man kept trying to take her hand saying I had to go with him while Georgie could hear her dad yelling out for her in the distance.

As she told her dad her dream she fell back asleep.

The entire time the family lived in the apartment they were plagued with nightmares and objects being moved or mysteriously falling to the ground.

“One morning I woke up and my arm was red, as if someone had been gripping it. I remember it being sore and thought I might have done it to myself, but the mark on my arm was bigger than my hand. My grandma and dad had had enough.”  Georgie said.

The family moved and finally were able to gain some peace…at least for a little while.

“Whatever it was seemed to followed my dad,” explains Georgie. “But those are stories for another time.”
